Menopause FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions About Your Menopause Care
If you have not used an online menopause clinic before, you may be wondering how exactly it works, from what happens during a menopause consultation through to which treatments are available and how menopause medication works. Read my menopause FAQs below to find out more about how my clinic works. If your question is not answered below, please get in touch with me.
Yes. I’m a qualified independent prescribing pharmacist registered with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), which means I’m trained and legally authorised to assess, diagnose, and prescribe medication where clinically appropriate.
This includes HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and non-hormonal treatments for menopause symptoms. Every prescription I issue is based on a detailed assessment of your medical history, current symptoms, and menopause treatment goals.
No referral is needed. You can book an online menopause appointment with me on my contact page. All menopause consultations are confidential and tailored to your needs. Once your appointment is confirmed, you’ll receive a secure link to complete a confidential pre-consultation questionnaire.
Yes, my menopause consultations are offered online, allowing you to access care from the comfort of your home. An online consultation is private and confidential and allow a safe space to discuss your medical history, symptoms and treatment.
Your questionnaire gives me a full picture of your menopause symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and goals.
It allows our time together to focus on you — understanding your needs, exploring treatment options, and answering your questions. The more detail you provide, the more personalised and effective your care will be.
Yes. You will need to check your blood pressure and provide a reading when completing the questionnaire, including your exact weight and height. Your blood pressure can be measured either at home if you have a blood pressure monitor or at any local pharmacy.
All menopause consultations are held via secure video call so you can access care comfortably from home. During the session, we’ll review your questionnaire together, discuss your symptoms, and explore menopause and perimenopause treatment options such as HRT or non-hormonal approaches.
Education is central to every session — you’ll leave feeling informed and supported. You will receive a personalise care plan after your consultation.
Yes, absolutely. You’re welcome to ask someone else to join you - a partner, sibling, or friend.
Menopause affects those around us too, and I believe understanding and support from loved ones can make a real difference. Men are encouraged to be involved. I welcome partners who want to learn how menopause affects women and how they can offer meaningful support.
Empowering men with knowledge helps build empathy, stronger relationships, and a shared sense of understanding.
We’ll discuss all menopause treatment options together — hormonal and non-hormonal — and you’ll have the time, information, and support you need to make the decision that’s right for you. All recommendations are based on the British Menopause Society guidelines.
Yes. Blood tests for menopause are available when needed to help guide your care. Menopause and perimenopause blood tests are charged separately. Costs depends on the tests required.
Initial menopause consultations usually last up to 60 minutes, giving plenty of time for a detailed discussion.
Follow-up consultations are up to 45 minutes and focused on your progress, questions, and treatment review.
My menopause consultations are designed to support women between the ages of 40 to 65 years old assigned female at birth experiencing perimenopause, menopause, or post-menopause. There are some circumstances where specialist involvement is needed to ensure your safety and best care — for example, if you have a complex medical history, certain cancers, fertility issues, premature menopause, or are a transgender or non-binary person receiving gender-affirming hormone therapy. In these cases, I’ll guide you to trusted specialist clinicians for additional support.
If your needs go beyond my scope, you’ll never be left without direction.
I’ll always take the time to explain why a referral is recommended and help connect you to trusted specialists or NHS services so you continue to receive the best possible care.
After your consultation, you’ll receive a summary outlining what we discussed, any menopause treatment prescribed, and follow-up recommendations.
I’ll also let you know when to book your next review and how to contact me if you have questions or concerns.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours’ notice where possible.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a fee.
You can easily manage your booking through the confirmation email you receive.
Absolutely. All information you share — including your questionnaire, consultation notes, and test results — is kept strictly confidential in line with GDPR and professional pharmacy standards.
Secure systems are used for online bookings, payments, and video calls to protect your privacy at every step.
My clinic does not provide emergency or out-of-hours care.
If you experience sudden or severe symptoms, chest pain, heavy bleeding, or any concerning reaction, please contact your GP, NHS 111, or emergency services immediately.
You can then arrange a follow-up menopause appointment with me once you’re stable and safe.
If a prescription is recommended during your menopause consultation, it will be issued electronically through Signature Rx, a secure, UK-registered online pharmacy platform.
Your prescription is sent directly to Signature Rx, where it is reviewed, dispensed, and posted safely to your home by their registered pharmacy team.
A separate payment for your medication will be made directly to the pharmacy once they contact you to confirm the order.
This process ensures your treatment is delivered safely, discreetly, and conveniently to your door.
Yes. You will need to consent to this when completing the questionnaire. A letter summarising your consultation and treatment will be sent to your GP to ensure your care is coordinated and safe.
I am also fluent in Punjabi and can provide consultations in both English and Punjabi to make your experience comfortable and clear. I also understand Hindi and Urdu and although I’m not fully fluent, I can accommodate and support basic communication in these languages to help you feel at ease. I suggest bringing someone to the menopause consultation who can help you with translation if English is not your first language and you speak other languages.
